Jared did not start in trading. He was a serious golfer, a three-time All-American in college who won nine tournaments, and his goal was to play professionally. But under the highest pressure, his own mental blocks held him back. That experience sent him deep into psychology to understand why.

He spent two years earning a master's degree in counseling psychology and two more becoming a licensed therapist, working in the Boston social service system with children and families facing serious issues. That foundation gave him a deep problem-solving skill that he later brought to performance. After meeting a poker player, he spent years inside the world of professional poker and wrote The Mental Game of Poker in 2011. When traders started asking him for help, he spent about four years studying their problems and writing The Mental Game of Trading, which came out in 2021. He has also written Everyday Golf Psychology and previously served as Head of Sport Psychology for the esports team Team Liquid.
